OUR STORY
The Body Confident Collective is a health promotion charity and body image research translation organisation, co-founded by three body image experts in 2020. The organisation has since grown to include a team of staff members, volunteers and advisors. Body Confident Collective continue to rapidly expand whilst changing the world one body image resource, program or advocacy project at a time.
Everyone who is involved at Body Confident Collective has a rich and diverse story. That's why we are all so passionate about what we do in the body image space. At Body Confident Collective we capture this passion and transform it into change for the real world where we have a positive impact on how people feel about their bodies.
We offer professional development courses, body image programs, webinars, and content for people to apply within their personal and professional lives. Everything that we do is informed by data, research, and evidence on our mission for impact. We love to share, innovate, and ideate on all things body image with parents, teachers, professionals, and companies.

DR ZALI YAGER
(She/Her)
Executive Director of the Body Confident Collective; Honourary Associate Professor in the Institute for Health and Sport at VU.
With an education background and expertise in the evaluation of body image programs in school and community settings, Zali is an expert in 'what works' when promoting body confidence.

DR GEORGIE BUCKLEY
(She/ Her)
Organisational Manager & Post Doctoral Research Fellow
Following her PhD about body image issues and eating disorders in current and former athletes, and her clinical experience as an eating disorder and sports dietitian, Georgie brings a wealth of experience to our team.

DR IVANKA PRICHARD
(She/Her)
Body Confident Collective Co-Founder and Board Member; Associate Professor in Health & Exercise Sciences at Flinders University in Adelaide.
Dr Prichard is an expert in media impact on body image, in particular fitspiration and social media. A Health behaviour change specialist, Ivanka's work looks at how to best promote positive lifestyle behaviours (i.e., healthy diet and exercise) and body image.

DR LAURA HART
(She/Her)
Body Confident Collective Co-Founder and Board Member; Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne
Laura is an expert in preschool parent's influences on children's physical and mental health, and a creator of Confident Body Confident Child. Her other work involves prevention and early intervention for eating disorders.

The Body Confident Collective team also benefits from extensive lived experience in body image concerns, subclinical and clinical eating disorders, exercise disorders, perinatal mental health issues, anxiety, and depression. Throughout our lives we have had experience as athletes, teachers, parents, and trauma survivors.

PHAEDRA LOONGHURST

Phaedra is a research assistant and postgraduate student based in South West UK. Phaedra’s research focuses on body image and eating disorders among underrepresented populations (e.g., neurodivergent groups) across clinical, education and community contexts. She aspires to advocate for hard-to-reach individuals through her research and lived experience in hope to promote well-being which is diverse and inclusive.

DR JO RATHBONE
(She/Her)
Postdoctoral Advocacy Fellow
Joanne is a social and health psychology researcher. She uses theory-driven and applied methods to investigate social determinants of health and behaviour, with a particular focus on weight stigma, social identities, and intergroup relations. Joanne is passionate about translating knowledge into practise and hopes that one day we can live in a world that is free of weight stigma and discrimination.
